Hello my name is Amy K Black. I started An Oasis Massage because I wanted to help people become more comfortable in there everyday life. I worked at a desk for eight years in a high stress environment. I watched friends come and go because the stress was too much. Finally, I came to the realization that I too could not do this anymore. I needed to make a difference in how stress is overwhelming people. I decided to go to massage school. I graduated from Ashmead College with a certificate in massage therapy in June 2006. I am proud to say that I graduated with Honors. While at school I completed an internship at a local chemotherapy clinic. I learned to massage clients while they were receiving their treatment. Also, while in school, I organized a chair massage event with my old employer, I am proud to say that they kept me on to provide chair massage once a week. Now I am fully licensed in the state of Oregon. I have a room inside the White Colonial Building at 829 SE 182nd Ave Suite 204. I am covered by Hands On insurance group. I enjoy seeing clients at my office or at there homes. I also enjoy providing seated chair massage at events or offices. * phone bank volunteers at Jeff Cogan's campaign office in October and November 2006 * ADP Clackamas office * Multnomah County Elections office employees * HMH advertising employees * Weaver's Tale Retreats working with elders and caregivers It is wonderful to see how 15 minutes of relaxation massage will focus people. They truly feel pampered and appreciated. I have been also able to bring comfort to employees with shoulder pain, foot pain, and multiple back pain issues. Some employees have found that chair massage is covered by there FSA plan or there insurance plan. Ask your insurance company. I also volunteer my time with Weaver's Tale Retreat for elders. I provide massage to elders that are wheelchair bound OR are fully mobile. This is a great way to give back to those have already given so much to our society. The time I spend with this group is always cherished. They always give me so much more then I could ever give to them. |
